Blue Bottle Coffee unites a passionate global team around connecting the world to delicious coffee. Roasters sit at the heart of production, excelling in heat application during roasting to create consistently delicious coffee. This full-time, hourly role makes you a key member of our coffee production team.

Roast every batch with meticulous attention to timing, temperature, and progress. Actively cup each batch to drive day-to-day, week-to-week improvements in roast quality. Track heat application, equipment temperatures, final roast levels, and weight loss using digital and physical systems.

Partner with production leadership to refine roasting profiles and with green sourcing to grasp coffee traits for optimal roasting. Maintain equipment through weekly preventative maintenance and calibration schedules. Ensure a meticulously clean, organized work area while promoting safety practices.

Sustain an open mind for continuous learning and improvement in the roasting process. Collect data to identify KPIs and strategize production enhancements. Collaborate professionally with the team, leading positive behaviors in a supportive facility.

Responsibilities

  • Roast every batch of coffee with meticulous attention to timing, temperature and progress
  • Actively engage in the cupping of each batch toward continuous improvement of each coffee’s roast
  • Help improve roasting profiles in partnership with production leadership and team
  • Partner with green sourcing team to understand coffee characteristics and roasting alignment
  • Track heat application, equipment temperature, roast level, and weight loss for all batches
  • Maintain roasting equipment via weekly preventative maintenance and calibration
  • Ensure a meticulously clean, organized, and functional work area
  • Collaborate with production team professionally, respectfully and with integrity
